Why have I lost the hearing in only one of my ears?
- A build-up of ear wax in just one ear
- An ear infection affecting one side
- Exposure to loud noise or acoustic trauma on one side
Is unilateral hearing loss permanent?
Some people with unilateral hearing loss regain part or all of their hearing with treatment. Unfortunately, for others, the hearing loss can be permanent.
Why do I only have tinnitus in one ear?
- Wax build-up in one ear
- Acoustic trauma, such as a nearby explosion or gunfire
- Frequent exposure to loud machinery or construction work on one side
